ETERNAL SECURITY

This term is often referred to as "once saved always saved" or OSAS.  Many  erroneously view this as total heresy. This is due to their flawed belief that there is works  involved in salvation.  Truth is there was much work involved, however all the work was accomplished by God in eternity.  Mankind did nothing to contribute to the obtaining of salvation, therefore he can do nothing to lose it. The bible teaches that the payment for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Note the fundamental nature of a gift is that it is not meritorious  When one fully understands the concept of salvation; the essence  being the deliverance out of the predicament of sin, then the realization that salvation is a position of security, not one of probation. The bible clearly teaches that we were sealed (secured with a mark) until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).  A vivid description of our security is found in Romans 8:33-39, numerous circumstances are stated as examples of what could possibly separate us from the love of God. Paul concludes by stating" there is nothing that was created that can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus".  Oh what peace is afforded with the comprehension of the fact that we are eternally secure in Him!
